BWI GmbH is a German public IT services provider owned by the German Federal Ministry of Defence. For this project, I was responsible for the UX Research, UX Strategy, and lead UX/UI Design for the Krisenvorsorgeinformationssystem Bund. This mission-critical system was designed and developed for both web and native mobile platforms.

Federal Crisis Preparedness Information System
National Security and High-Density Data
The primary challenge involved designing for crisis management scenarios where speed of information and system reliability are the highest priorities. I had to architect a system that remains functional under extreme pressure. The user interface required a careful balance between high data density and cognitive clarity to ensure that decision-makers could process complex information rapidly during emergency operations.
Unified Experience and Accessibility
The UX strategy focused on creating a seamless transition for users moving between the desktop web application and the native mobile app during emergency operations. A core pillar of this project was the strict adherence to the WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standard. For a federal system of this scale, accessibility was not merely a feature but a functional requirement to ensure the software remains usable for all personnel across the German public IT infrastructure.
